Our Story

In 1985 Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche planted the seed of the Dharma in Tampa Bay with the guidance of His Holiness, the 16th Karmapa. Since that time, Tampa Bay KTC has worked to teach meditation, host visits from wonderful teachers, and make the Karma Kagyu Dharma available to the people in our area. Our goal is to have a building for our KTC Center to be able to expand and deepen what the Tampa Bay KTC can offer.

To enable this to happen,  we need your help.

Please consider a onetime or recurring tax-deductible donation in order to help ensure the future of the Dharma in this area.

The Karma Effect Project

Join with Tampa Bay Karma Thegsum Choling by giving an offering to our Mother Earth. We would like to plant a tree for you in a local forest and with this offering begin a journey together. With your donation of $10.00, we will plant a Red Maple Seedling. Your donation will help to support future ecological projects, teachers and Buddhist teachings.
Mail your tax-deductible donations to: Tampa KTC, 31201 Satinleaf Run, Brooksville, FL 34602, or click here.
By planting this offering, our journey begins together. Offer a seedling tree and begin your karmic imprint! His Holiness the 17th Karmapa has said that if we want to create change in the world, the process must begin within ourselves. It is unrealistic to seek the transformation of the rest of the world and expect anyone to listen without living and being the example first. A project created to raise awareness towards our karmic connection to each other and the planet.

A Permanent Center for Tampa

In 1985 Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche planted the seed of the Dharma in Tampa Bay with the guidance of His Holiness, the 16th Karmapa.

Please join Tampa KTC’s ongoing fundraising efforts to establish a permanent Dharma center. Our goal is to raise enough money to purchase a small house in the area. The Lama House will be a retreat center where Lamas from KTD and India can stay for extended visits, to teach and offer guidance to the community. The Lama House will enable us to offer weekly meditation and practice. With a full time location, we can outreach into the community and move forward to support other centers and monasteries. We come and go like waves on the ocean, but the seeds are planted in our mind stream. Please contact us here to talk about a tax-deductible contribution.

The principle is not how much we give, but how well and completely we do it.

Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche

Do we have the courage, determination, openness and understanding to develop to the point that giving becomes spontaneous, and the more we give, the more we find we can give?

Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche

We should also give fully in the sense that we give not only for the good of one person, but with the motivation of wishing to benefit all beings.
