Who We Are 2017-10-16T20:26:06+00:00

Our Mission

Tampa Bay KTC represents a 900 year lineage with a history that includes some of the most famous yogis in the Tibetan tradition, a tradition still vital, fresh and relevant today. As we teach meditation and mindfulness techniques here in Tampa, we are part of a system of KTC centers in other parts of Florida, all over the United States, and at our headquarters, Karma Triyana Dharmachakra, in Woodstock, New York. Here’s a map of the other Centers.

Our goal for Tampa is to help people experience the many blessings of meditative and mindfulness practices, always, but we have one special goal: to establish a Meditation Center here. We have an excellent slate of yearly practices and teachers, and have found great venues to partner with, but we need a home base for our ongoing activities. Please consider joining our Center by becoming a member and helping us grow! Upcoming events here.

The 17th Karmapa

Born in 1985, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje is the head of the 900 year old Karma Kagyu Lineage and guide to millions of Buddhists around the world. Currently, the Karmapa resides in his temporary home at Gyuto Monastery in India after making a dramatic escape from Tibet in the year 2000. Karma Triyana Dharmachakra is his North American seat, and Tampa Bay Karma Thegsum Choling is one of the regional centers.

You can read much more about His Holiness and his many activities here.
